Carpet Installation

Bedrooms, basements, stairs and whole homes. Stretched properly with a power stretcher so it stays flat — not kicked in and left to ripple in two years.

Carpet is still the right answer in bedrooms and basements: it is warm, it is quiet, and it is forgiving underfoot. It is also the flooring where installation quality shows up fastest.

Most carpet complaints are not about the carpet. They are about ripples, visible seams and loose stairs — all installation problems, all avoidable.

Power stretching, not knee kicking

A knee kicker alone leaves the carpet under-tensioned. Six months later it ripples, and re-stretching costs you again. We power stretch every room.

Padding is not the place to save

Cheap pad collapses, and once it does the carpet above it wears out early. The right density for the room does more for how the floor feels and lasts than upgrading the carpet itself.

Seam placement

Seams get planned around sight lines and traffic paths, not around whatever wastes the least material. A seam running down the middle of a room in front of a window is a permanent reminder of a rushed install.

Stairs done right

Waterfall or upholstered, stairs take real time to do well. They are also the first thing that comes loose when they are done badly, and they are the highest-traffic surface in most houses.

Common questions

Carpet — straight answers.

Do you move the furniture?

Yes. We handle furniture and haul away the old carpet and pad. Let us know about anything unusually heavy or fragile when we measure.

How soon can we walk on it?

Immediately. Carpet is one of the few floors with no cure or set time.

Can carpet go in a basement?

It can, with the right pad and provided the space is dry. If there is any history of water down there, we will usually steer you toward vinyl plank instead and tell you why.

Is the installation warrantied?

Yes. Every installation we do carries a one-year workmanship warranty. If something we installed fails because of how it was installed, we come back and fix it. Manufacturer defects are covered separately by the product warranty, and we will help you file that claim.

“He is an honest flooring contractor and works hard to get the job done, no matter the request. He travels too — jobs spanning from the Poconos to the shore. The most competitive pricing in the Philadelphia area.”

— Brendan Worton · Google review

“Mike has done several rooms in our home and each one was a stellar job. Highly recommend As Good As It Gets. Mike will be doing our plank floor in our sunroom this fall.”
