Hardwood Flooring Installation
Real wood, cut and fit by hand. Done properly, a hardwood floor outlives the person who installed it — and can be refinished instead of replaced.
Hardwood is the only floor you can sand and refinish rather than tear out. That is the whole argument for it: a floor that looks tired in twenty years becomes a new floor for a fraction of a replacement.
The tradeoff is that hardwood is unforgiving of a bad install. Wood moves with the seasons, and an installer who ignores that produces gaps in January and cupping in July.
Solid vs. engineered
Solid hardwood can be refinished many times and belongs on or above grade. Engineered has a real wood wear layer over a stable plywood core, handles humidity swings better, and is the right call for basements and over concrete. Neither is 'better' — they solve different problems.
Acclimation is not optional
Wood delivered from a cold truck needs to sit in the room and reach the home's humidity before it goes down. Skipping this is the single most common cause of gapping and cupping, and it is the step a rushed crew skips first.
Nail, staple or glue
Over plywood we nail or staple. Over concrete, engineered gets glued or floated. The fastening schedule matters — too few fasteners and you get squeaks, and squeaks are very difficult to fix after the fact.
Stairs, borders and thresholds
Stair treads, transitions to tile, and vents cut into the field are the details that separate a professional floor from a DIY one. They take time and they are worth it.

Common questions
Hardwood — straight answers.
Can you match my existing hardwood for an addition or repair?
Usually. Species, width, grade and finish all have to line up, and older floors have often ambered with age. We will be straight with you about whether a seamless match is realistic or whether a transition is the better-looking answer.
Prefinished or site-finished?
Prefinished goes down faster, has a tougher factory finish, and you can walk on it the same day. Site-finished gives you a perfectly flat surface with no micro-bevels between boards and lets you choose any stain. Both are good; it depends on your timeline and your tolerance for dust.
Do you refinish existing floors?
We handle repairs, board replacement and installation. For full sand-and-refinish work we will tell you honestly whether your floor has enough thickness left to take it.
Is the installation warrantied?
Yes. Every installation we do carries a one-year workmanship warranty. If something we installed fails because of how it was installed, we come back and fix it. Manufacturer defects are covered separately by the product warranty, and we will help you file that claim.
